My opinion about the Roborock Saros 10R

For me, this robot isn’t for everyone. It makes a lot of sense if you have low-profile designer furniture, pets, or lots of hair at home, and you want maximum hygiene without having to clean brushes all the time. In those cases, its ultra-slim design and high-temperature mop washing really make a difference.

However, if your home has complex uneven surfaces, black carpets, or many mirrors, it can become frustrating. In practice, it doesn’t always overcome thresholds as promised and sometimes avoids areas it shouldn’t, which forces you to configure zones manually.

In short, it’s a very eye-catching and different robot, but it still has some details that need improvement.

Roborock Saros 10R: Pros & Cons Analysis

Main Advantages

1 Solid-State LiDAR Navigation (StarSight™)

The Roborock Saros 10R moves away from the typical rotating top sensor and uses a system called StarSight™, based on solid-state LiDAR. In simple terms, the robot “sees” its surroundings using fixed lasers that allow it to understand the space and create a real-time 3D map.

What are the advantages of this system?

  • It is more durable: since it has no rotating parts, there is less wear over time.
  • It is lower: the design allows a height of only 7.98 cm, which helps it clean better under low furniture.

2 Object recognition with RGB cameras and artificial intelligence

The StarSight™ system does not rely only on lasers. The Roborock Saros 10R also incorporates RGB cameras that allow it to recognize objects intelligently.

Thanks to artificial intelligence, the robot does not just detect that there is “something” ahead, but can identify exactly what it is: a shoe, a cable, a scale, or even pet waste. This helps it decide how to move and avoid problems during cleaning.

This combination of sensors, known as sensor fusion, is key to more accurate navigation. The laser measures distance, while the camera provides context, resulting in safer and more efficient cleaning.

3 AdaptiLift™ chassis: lifts to overcome obstacles

The Roborock Saros 10R not only navigates better, it is also designed to move smoothly throughout the home. Its AdaptiLift™ system allows it to adapt to different floor types.

When it detects an obstacle, the robot can lift its chassis and overcome thresholds of up to 4 cm, something uncommon in robot vacuums.

This allows it to move between rooms with uneven levels, avoid chair bases, and perform better on long-pile carpets, preventing it from getting stuck and improving cleaning efficiency.

4 DuoDivide™ brush: fewer tangles, better cleaning

The Roborock Saros 10R features the new DuoDivide™ brush, specifically designed to prevent annoying hair tangles.

Instead of a single long roller, it uses two short rollers separated in the center. This directs hair toward the suction area instead of trapping it at the ends of the brush.

Thanks to this design and its high suction power, hair, including pet hair, is vacuumed directly into the dustbin, almost completely reducing the need to clean the brush manually.

5 FlexiArm™: real edge and corner cleaning

To improve cleaning in difficult areas, the Roborock Saros 10R incorporates FlexiArm™ technology in both the side brush and the mop.

When the robot detects a corner or edge, the side brush extends automatically, pushing dirt toward the center to be vacuumed.

In addition, one of the mops also extends to scrub along baseboards, removing dirt that normally remains uncleaned along edges.

6 Mopping system and Dock 4.0: more hygienic cleaning

The Roborock Saros 10R not only vacuums, it also significantly improves cleaning with its mopping system and the Multifunctional Dock 4.0.

The dock washes the mops with hot water at 80°C, a higher temperature than most robots. This helps remove grease, dirt residues, and unpleasant odors more effectively.

After washing, the mops are dried with hot air, preventing moisture and bacterial growth. In addition, the dock cleans itself, reducing manual maintenance.

Points to Consider

1 Less fluid navigation in very open spaces

Although the StarSight™ system is very advanced, the Roborock Saros 10R also has some aspects worth considering.

Unlike traditional LiDAR, which scans 360° continuously, solid-state LiDAR has a more limited field of view. As a result, the robot needs to rotate and move more to recognize large spaces, which can give the impression of less fluid navigation in open environments.

In addition, this type of LiDAR may have more difficulty detecting very thin objects. Roborock compensates for this using RGB cameras and other sensors, but in some specific cases it may not be as precise as rotating LiDAR.

2 Issues with reflective or dark surfaces

Although the sensor system of the Roborock Saros 10R is very advanced, some users have reported unexpected behavior in specific situations.

On highly reflective surfaces, such as floor-to-ceiling mirrors, or on very dark carpets, the robot may interpret these areas as a void or a restricted zone.

This can cause it to avoid certain areas even when there is no real danger. It is a common limitation of optical sensors and, despite the Saros 10R’s technology, it is not yet fully solved.

3 It may struggle with some high thresholds

Although this model claims it can overcome thresholds of up to 4 cm, in practice this may vary depending on the situation.

Some analyses indicate that the robot may have difficulties with thresholds of around 2.5 cm if it approaches at an angle or if the surface is slippery.

4 Premium price: a high investment

The 10R is clearly positioned in the premium segment, with a price around €1,500 / $1,599 USD.

For many users, this price difference compared to models like the Qrevo Slim or previous generations may be hard to justify, especially if they do not have very low furniture where the reduced height makes a real difference.

It is a very advanced robot, but its value makes more sense in homes that truly take advantage of its exclusive features.

Final Verdict: Who Should Buy the Roborock Saros 10R?

The Roborock Saros 10R isn’t a robot vacuum designed for everyone. It’s a premium, niche product, built for a very specific type of user.

It’s aimed at people who pay close attention to every detail in their home, have designer furniture, live with pets, and have a flexible budget. For this profile, top-level hygiene, such as mop washing at 80°C, combined with a discreet, low-profile design, makes a real difference. In that scenario, the Saros 10R currently has no direct rival.

For the average user, however, robot vacuums with traditional LiDAR still offer a more balanced, proven experience, with a better price-to-performance ratio.

From a market and SEO perspective, Roborock has achieved something important: creating a new category within the premium segment, the “Ultra-Slim Flagship”. In the coming years, robot height will become just as important as suction power once was, and it’s very likely that the entire industry will follow this direction.

Users looking for a premium robot vacuum with advanced automation, ultra-slim design, and a strong focus on hygiene and innovation.

Not Ideal If

You prioritize fast, uninterrupted cleaning, strong carpet performance, or maximum value for money.

Overall Value

Innovative and forward-looking, but better suited as a premium tech showcase than a pure cleaning upgrade.
